AWS Senior / Expert AI Engineer

Location: Poland (hybrid: Gdańsk / Warsaw)

As a recruitment agency, we are supporting our client – a leading Scandinavian bank undergoing a large-scale cloud and AI transformation – in hiring an AWS Senior / Expert AI Engineer.

This is a key technical role where you will help build and scale modern DevOps, MLOps, and LLMOps environments across multiple high-impact projects.

About the role

You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and production-ready AI/ML platforms in AWS. This role combines hands-on engineering, platform thinking, and best practice leadership in a large-scale enterprise environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage AWS infrastructure for AI/ML workloads (Step Functions, Lambda, EventBridge, MWAA)
• Build and optimize big data pipelines using PySpark / Spark (Glue, EMR, EKS)
• Manage large-scale data storage and querying (S3, Athena)
• Implement CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Ensure performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of solutions
• Collaborate with data scientists, product teams, and stakeholders
• Contribute to engineering standards and mentor other team members

Requirements

• 5+ years (Senior) or 8+ years (Expert) in cloud / data / AI engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS (Glue, EMR, EKS, Lambda, S3, Athena)
• Experience with big data processing (PySpark / Spark, Hadoop ecosystem)
• Advanced Python skills (including Pandas for data transformation)
• Experience with CI/CD and IaC (Terraform)
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Background in large-scale / enterprise environments

Nice to have

• Experience with MLflow, SageMaker or Bedrock
• Knowledge of real-time data processing (e.g. Kafka)
• AWS certifications
